The Ministry of Agriculture and her department for the investment and development project of agricultural markets (Pidma), provides for the doubling of sorghum production in by 2020.
The production of sorghum during the 2014-2015 campaign is currently projected at 1.099 million tonnes. It is planned to move forward a little more than 200 000 tonnes each year, to reach 2 million tonnes in 2020.
According to Pidma, « the production of sorghum in the regions of the Far North and the north of Cameroon should reach 2 million tonnes production of cereal in the country by 2020 »
Agro-industries have also expressed their needs, particularly Guinness Cameroon, the local subsidiary of the group Diageo, who now prefers sorghum to the imported barley for the production of its soft and alcoholic drinks .
ADPM is capable of assiting interested parties who wish to invest in this domian by securing agricultural land for them as well as aiding them to the realization of this project.This is a great domain of investment as many other companies such as Guiness Cameroon have expressed their interest in the use of cereal for the realization of their finishing products.
